What the UTQG?
The Uniform Tire Quality Grading (UQTG) is a ranking system of tire quality that facilitates comparison between different formats on the market. The UQTG measures the performance of the tire in terms of wear, adhesion and resistance to temperature. In each case, a performance rating is assigned to the tire.
The tread wear lets you know, in identical conditions, which tire will wear faster. The assigned ratings typically range from 60 to 700. The higher the rating, the higher the tire will wear resistant. A tire with a wear rating of 600 can basically wear two times slower than 300 tire side.
The adhesion of the tire indicates its ability to stop a car driving straight on a wet surface. The assigned ratings are AA, A, B or C that AA offers the best traction. A tire with traction rating of A will be more effective than another with a rating of C.
