You’ve got the wardrobe and planned your evening . . . all that’s left is renting your limo for a prom night that is second to none. Chances are, you’ve never hired a limo service before, and you may be feeling a bit overwhelmed with how to go about it. Relax! The process of choosing and hiring a limo is fairly easy, as long as you begin the process early enough to get what you want. Here are step by step instructions on how to rent your perfect ride for the night of your life.

Step 1: Choose a Limo
The first step in hiring a limo is deciding exactly what you want. Are you looking for a vintage car to take just a few people to the prom, or are you seeking a huge party bus for you and 50 of your closest friends? No matter what you are looking for or how large a group you are traveling with, chance are you will be able to find it – especially in a large city. Limousines come in all shapes and sizes, and they are designed to hold groups of all sizes. These are just a few of the vehicles available for prom:
Lincoln Continental
Lincoln Navigator
Hummer
Cadillac Escalade
Chrysler 300
Party buses
And many more!
To help you choose, first get an idea of how many people will be going together, and then see what you can find that will be large enough and suit your style.
Step 2: Look for Packages
Many limousine services have special prom packages that include snacks, soft drinks, and multiple pick ups, drop offs, and stops throughout the night. Additionally, most packages will rent the limo for a block of time (anywhere from 6 to 12 hours), so get a picture in your mind of what you need. You may need to have all of your group meet at one or two houses before prom to meet the pick up requirements. Additional stops may be available for an extra fee. Talk to your group about what each person or couple is willing to spend. According to a recent survey by Visa, most families spend about $807 per child going to prom. You can save on your limo fee by splitting it with more people.
Step 3: Collect the Fee
The best way to pay as a group is to collect money up front. Get all of the money for the ride together before you book it to avoid uncomfortable conversations on the night of prom. Most services require a deposit to hold your booking, so you may want to collect money for the deposit first and the rest of the fee a day or two before prom. DO NOT allow anyone to “pay you later” – you will end up out of money and angry at your friends.
Step 4: Book Your Ride
Once you have decided on a limo, the size of your group, where you will be picked up and dropped off, and how many stops you will be making (don’t forget dinner and the after prom parties!), you are ready to make the all-important call. Be specific in telling the service what you want and get all of the contract details in writing. Pay the deposit fee quickly to ensure that your booking is safe. The rest of the money will be due a little closer to the time of your prom night.
Congratulations! You are now ready for a limo ride to start the night of your dreams!
